It's Madison time!

Last Saturday was Madison Time at the Northeast GA History Center! I presented the popular 1960s dance and taught the Alleycat dance. The Madison was created in the late 1950s but became wildly popular after songs were written to accompany the dance. The Allycat was the Electric Slide of it's day and is just plain fun to dance.

Three of my mom's dresses were on display and I was happy to share a little history about women's clothing from that period. I pointed out the raised waistline on the wedding dress and talked about how past fashion trends come back into style. I also pointed out the trend in space race motifs that influenced fashion and accessories.
